Great Fish Community Challenge
Get ready to Give Together and make an Impact for the Flathead Valley! The Great Fish Community Challenge officially begins on August 5th and runs through September 17th.
We are excited to be participating in our fifth Great Fish Community Challenge which has become a game changer in building our ability to do more and bigger conservation projects. In the past two years we have seen a greater interest and demand for conservation which has made us busier than ever. Last year was a banner year as we completed six conservation easements for a total of 1,394 acres of wildlife habitat, farmland, and open space protected.
This year, the level of projects has only increased as we work to complete the Somers Beach State Park on Flathead Lake as well as the 772-acre Bad Rock Canyon Conservation Project near Columbia Falls. Both will save vital blocks of habitat, keep our water clean, and secure new recreational opportunities close to our communities. We are also working on major conservation projects slated to be completed in 2022 and 2023. In order to meet the increasing demand and better serve the Flathead Valley, we are committed to building our capacity and increasing the pace of conservation for places we all love. Your support of FLT through the Great Fish Community Challenge provides a significant boost in our ability to do that. In addition, Whitefish Community Foundation will award us a percentage match for funds raised up to $20,000!!
On August 5th, Whitefish Community Foundation will host the Great Fish Challenge launch event at Glacier Bank in downtown Whitefish from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Donations received during the event will be entered into drawings to add additional matching grants to your gift. Over $2,000 will be awarded on August 5th through matching grant. We hope to see you there to kick off another successful Great Fish for FLT!
