Mark your calendars: Harrell Forest Community Day is just around the corner, and we’re thrilled to invite you to a day of outdoor fun, learning, and community spirit on Saturday, May 3rd, from 9:00 am to 3:00 p.m.

Join us for a fantastic opportunity to discover the beauty and history of Harrell Forest right here in Bigfork! Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a fun family outing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Here’s a sneak peek at what we have planned:

Guided Hikes (*email us to sign up for hikes!):

• 9:00 a.m. Rooted in Nature: Discovering the Forest One Leaf at a Time.Ready to leaf your worries behind? Join us for a moderately paced 2.7-mile round-trip hike, winding through flowy switchbacks and a beautiful birch grove. Along the way, you’ll learn fun and practical tips for identifying northwest Montana’s native trees and shrubs. This is your chance to sharpen your plant ID skills while deepening your connection to the forest—because when we connect with nature, we’re more likely to protect it!
• 11:00 a.m. Kids’ Hike; Forest Floor Fun: Perfect for families! This interactive hike with Jen Guse and Mr. Scott will include fun nature activities for the kids.
• 1:00 p.m.: History of Harrell Forest Hike: Delve deeper into the history of Harrell Forest. Paul Travis will share stories and details about the land’s past use, significant events, and the collaborative efforts that shaped it into today’s cherished community resource.

Fun for All Ages:

• Trivia Challenge: Test your knowledge of Harrell Forest with our engaging trivia game! Prizes may be involved!
• Conservation Corn Hole: Enjoy a friendly game of corn hole with a conservation twist!
• Informational Table: Our friendly Harrell Forest staff will be on hand throughout the day to answer your questions about the forest, local conservation efforts, upcoming programs, and how you can get involved.
