We’re so excited to have helped conserve and add 257 more acres to the USFWS Smith Lake Waterfowl Production Area last fall that we want to celebrate with you. Join us for a Bike and Bird tour around Smith Lake with birding experts from Flathead Audubon on Saturday, June 20. Learn about this recent conservation project and experience the incredible birding (and biking) around this extensive wetland area near Kila.
The biking route is approximately 8.5 miles and is mostly flat with some smaller hills. It is also mostly dirt and gravel road so mountain bikes are recommended. Bring your own bike, helmet, snacks, water and binoculars. Two tours will be scheduled if needed depending on number of participants: the first at 9:00 am and second at 1:00 pm (if needed) with staggered 10-person group start times. The tour is approximately 2.5 hours long.
In an effort to provide as safe of a tour as possible and follow all CDC and Governor Bullock’s COVID-19 guidelines, we will organize smaller biking groups and require wide social distancing during the tour. Face masks are recommended. Also, we ask if you currently are or have recently been sick or have traveled outside the state in the last 14 days to please not attend.
